KATHMANDU – Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has urged the party leaders and cadres to be assured of the 14th general convention of the party in late August. The party has made public the convention schedule to be held from August 23 to 26.
Issuing a press statement today, President Deuba reiterated that the party was bound to hold its 14th general convention within August and he was fully committed to holding it on time. “The general convention is not only technical or administrative issue but also a significant political event. I know it is a grand campaign. It is not appropriate to cast doubt on general convention, arguing some leaders want it and some others deny,” Deuba mentioned.
There is no point in getting uncertain about the general convention. It should be held with collective efforts of party leaders and members. So all should be responsible, he said, urging for complete preparation of general convention in coming two months. He also reminded that necessary preparations as formation of investigation on active membership were continuous.
On a different note, President Deuba has requested all leaders and cadres to adopt every safety measures in view of the COVID-19.
Moreover, he wished eternal peace to those losing lives to COVID-19, extended condolences to the bereaved family members and wished speedy recovery of the infected ones. The President accused the present government of ignoring doctors’ suggestions and not working honestly to contain coronavirus which, he argued, resulted in present crisis.
