Kathmandu: The lockdown imposed by the Chief District Officers of the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley has been extended by an additional seven days.
Issuing another prohibitory order today separately, the CDOs of the three districts have extended the lockdown until midnight of September 2.
The seven-day lockdown that was imposed on August 19 was due to expire at midnight today.
Citing continuous rise of COVID-19 infection in the Kathmandu Valley in recent days, the CDOs of the Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur districts have issued the orders to prohibit all businesses, services and religious activities in the Valley as part of efforts to contain the ongoing pandemic.
The prohibitory order will also put a restriction on the movement of vehicles and people during this period. However, the movement of businesses and services for essential purposes like supply and purchase of food and medicine will be allowed, according to the prohibitory order.
Similarly, people have been ordered to wear face masks while out in public places for essential purposes.
In the prohibitory orders, the CDOs have warned that those violating or creating obstacles during the enforcement of rules and those creating artificial shortages or price hikes of essential consumable goods and supplies will face legal action.
Those who operate essential businesses and services must have to comply with the health safety guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Population that include arrangement of social distancing and use of sanitizer, according to the orders.
