Though corona test on the arrival has been ensured along the Jamunah transit point in Nepalgunj, people’s cross-border movement via other rural check points is unhindered. District COVID-19 Management Centre’s resource person Tej Oli said lately the infections rate is increasing among the returnees from India. The southern neighbor reports record- high cases of COVID-19 as the latest Omicron variant is the matter of global concern. On Wednesday alone, 27 cases were detected along the Jamunah point. There were 17 infected: 11 males and 6 females at the Nepalgunj-based Bal Mandir COVID-19 Isolation Center. In this backdrop, the District Administration Office, Banke has urged the public not to create a gathering and to follow all the recommended health protocols against the virus. Chief District Officer Surya Bahadur Khatri said the political gathering, public programme, fair, festival or any kind of public event having the presence of more than 25 people have been banned in view of the increased risk of the infection.
