The earthquake of magnitude 5.3 with its epicenter, Bhatekhola of Masta rural municipality, took place at 12.22 last night. Seismic expert Dr. Shiva Subedi said the earthquake went through the Bhatekhola-some 5.4-km away from the district headquarter Chainpur last night. Some four aftershocks have so far jolted Bajhang since Tuesday. A person died and 20 others were injured when the earthquake struck Bajhang with the Bhatekhola serving as its centre on Tuesday night. It had also caused damages to the physical structures in the district. Local people had gathered in open ground early this morning after series of earthquakes and aftershocks in Bajhang. Rajesh Karki, a local of Khaptadchhanna rural municipality-5 shared that there was a stampede after earthquake tremors in the night.
