
BIRATNAGAR – Senior leader of the Nepali Congress, Sekhar Koirala, has said politics must keep in centre the nation and people. Politics is not for business and money, he added.
Addressing a function organized by the Nona Koirala Memorial Foundation in memory of leader Nona Koirala here Monday, leader Sekhar Koirala, blamed that present politics failed to work for public welfare. Only power and money were in the centre of politics, he expressed worry.
He further accused those holding power in all three tiers of government of serving personal interest. “Nepali politics is being commercialized. Politics must not be a business, but a service,” leader Koirala reminded. He also expressed concern over the raft of ordinances in a hurry, while the days for parliament meeting were near.
Mayor of Biratnagar Metropolitan City, Nagesh Koirala, remembered the late Nona Koirala as a political, religious and social personality. She had tremendous role to unite the Koirala family in Nepali politics, he added.
During the programme, noted journalist Kishor Nepal was conferred on the ‘Nona Koirala Memorial Award’. The award carries the purse of Rs 25,000.
