RSP appoints Hikmat Jung Karki to party’s Central International Relations department


Kathmandu- The ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has appointed Hikmat Jung Karki as a member of its Central International Relations Department, a key party body headed by Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal.

In a statement, the party said Karki, a resident of Kathmandu was nominated with the confidence that he would effectively discharge his responsibilities in line with the party’s constitution, policies, principles and departmental regulations.

The appointment comes as the RSP seeks to strengthen its international engagement and expand its outreach with democratic institutions and global stakeholders.

Following his appointment, Karki expressed gratitude to the party leadership for entrusting him with the new responsibility.

“As party chairman for giving responsibility of a member of International Relations Department of National Independent Party. I express my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Ravi Lamichhane, departmental chief and honorable foreign minister Shisir Khanal.”

Hailing the party, Karki said, “I commit to continuously striving on my behalf to strengthen, effective and expand the international relationship under leadership guidance while staying fully committed to the party’s legislation, policy and principles.

Karki brings years of experience in international relations and diplomacy. He has previously served as co-chairperson of an organisation affiliated with young democrats from around the world and has been actively involved in international policy discussions and networking initiatives.

Academically, Karki holds a postgraduate degree in International Relations from the University of East London and a bachelor’s degree in Humanities and Social Sciences from Tribhuvan University.

Over the years, he has represented Nepal at several international forums, including the United Nations’ World Urban Forum in Poland and the Democratic Forum in Washington D.C. He has also participated in policy dialogues and international engagements in countries such as New Zealand, Finland, Germany, Morocco and the United Kingdom.

Apart from his diplomatic and international affairs experience, Karki has expertise in urban planning. He previously served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Urban Development Fund under Nepal’s Ministry of Urban Development.
