Kathmandu – The newly formed Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation has begun institutional and policy work after getting its leadership.
As per the latest work division of the Government of Nepal, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation was established by removing Science and Technology from the former Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
Independent MP Mahabir Pun has taken on the responsibilities as a minister in this ministry from Tuesday.
Pramila Bajracharya of the Engineering Services was also assigned responsibility a few days ago as the Secretary of the Ministry. Secretary Bajracharya said that the Ministry has started working from the office of the former Youth and Sports Ministry in Singha Durbar.
Minister Pun had decided to conduct an Organisation and Management Survey (O&M) of the ministry after taking office, as the new ministry would have to start work from scratch.
Secretary Bajracharya said that as stated by Minister Pun the Ministry started from scratch and has already prepared a template for the ministry’s website to provide to the Information Technology Department. According to her, the information will be uploaded in the website after 72 hours due to systemic reasons.
Currently, 24 staff members are working in the Ministry, and it has been reported that the number of staff will increase after the new organisational structure is established.
Minister Pun has moved to Singha Durbar from today as he will be residing at the ministry’s building itself.
