Nepal Embassy in New Delhi invites students to join new Ambassador Network

The Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi has invited Nepali students studying in India’s National Capital Region to participate in a new outreach initiative that includes the planned launch of the Nepal-India Student Ambassador Network (NISAN).

In a notice issued on June 29, the embassy called for expressions of interest from Nepali students enrolled at recognised universities, colleges, research institutions and other higher education institutions in Delhi and the National Capital Region to take part in the programme, titled ‘Know Your Embassy: Nepali Students Connect 2026‘.

The initiative is part of the embassy’s outreach to Nepali students in India and aims to familiarise them with the embassy’s mandate, functions and services. It also seeks to strengthen communication between the embassy and the Nepali student community while encouraging young Nepalis to contribute to the promotion of Nepal and Nepal-India people-to-people ties.

As part of the programme, the embassy plans to launch the Nepal-India Student Ambassador Network, or NISAN, a voluntary platform intended to connect Nepali students across Delhi and the NCR.

According to the embassy, NISAN will serve as a bridge between the mission and the student community by sharing official information, supporting student welfare, promoting Nepal, and assisting with cultural, tourism and public diplomacy activities. It will also encourage networking among Nepali students and strengthen Nepal-India people-to-people relations.

The embassy said participation in NISAN will be voluntary and honorary and will not confer any diplomatic, consular or official representative status.

The programme also aims to identify students interested in volunteering for the proposed network while providing an opportunity for direct interaction with embassy officials and promoting coordination among Nepali students from different educational institutions.

Applications are open to Nepali citizens enrolled in undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, professional or other recognised higher education programmes in Delhi and the NCR who hold a valid student identity card. Applicants must also have an interest in community engagement, public diplomacy, cultural promotion or Nepal-India relations.

The embassy said a maximum of 25 students will be selected based on their interest in student and community engagement, representation from different institutions, diversity of academic disciplines and levels of study and the need to ensure balanced participation.

The deadline for submitting expressions of interest is July 16. Only selected applicants will be contacted, the embassy said. Participation in the programme is personal and non-transferable.
