Nepal advances four key reform bills in parliament

Kathmandu- Nepal’s National Assembly (NA) is holding clause-by-clause discussions on four key reform bills during today’s meeting of its Legislation Management Committee.

The bills were referred to the committee after being passed by the House of Representatives. Lawmakers are reviewing amendment proposals submitted by committee members in the presence of the respective line ministers.

Committee chair Krishna Bahadur Rokaya said the committee is expected to finalise its report on the bills and present it at today’s National Assembly meeting.

The proposed legislation seeks to replace ordinances previously introduced by the government. The four bills are the Public Procurement (Second Amendment) Bill, 2083, the Prevention of Money Laundering (Third Amendment) Bill, 2083, the Cooperative (First Amendment) Bill, 2083, and the Bill to Amend some Nepal acts related to the Institute of Health Sciences, 2083.
