FIFA dismisses Chief Operating Officer Kevin Lamour

Kathmandu [Nepal], August 18 – FIFA has parted ways with Chief Operating Officer Kevin Lamour by mutual agreement ending his employment with the world football governing body effective August 17, 2026.

A FIFA spokesperson confirmed the departure and thanked Lamour for his two years of service wishing him success in the future. FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom informed staff of the decision in an email sent Monday evening.

Lamour joined FIFA in November 2024 after serving as UEFA’s deputy secretary general. His departure follows public criticism last month of the controversial FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) project.

Lamour described the initiative as a “one-person project” and said football’s political leadership needed to ask the right questions before making decisions. He also claimed FIFA’s administration had been misled about aspects of the project.

Lamour stressed that FIFA’s purpose was to serve football and that its leadership should unite and motivate employees.

Earlier this month FIFA President Gianni Infantino received support from senior executives at a meeting in Morocco. According to BBC Sport Lamour was not invited to the meeting.

Lamour has been approached for comment on his departure and the developments surrounding the FFE project.
