Kathmandu- Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged the Nepal Academy to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) of Mahakavi Devkota Museum, proposed to be built at ‘Kavikunja’ based in Kathmandu metropolis-30, Maitidevi.
During his meeting with Academy Chancellor Ganga Prasad Upreti at the Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar, Prime Minister Oli assured that there will be no shortage of resources for the project in the future, although the budget has not yet been appropriated at present due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
The Prime Minister has also directed the Finance Minister who was present there, to ensure the budget required for the project of national pride.
The Prime Minister, in his address to the birth anniversary celebration of great poet Devkota in 2075 BS, had announced to turn Devkota’s home of birth into a museum. As per the government’s decision, the ownership of a plot measuring 12 anna and one dam has been legally handed to the Nepal Academy.
The government has proposed to build a four-storey museum by retrofitting the structure to its original style.
Chancellor Upreti stated that the museum’s construction would be expedited once the budget for the project has been managed by the government.
