Leo-Lions Club Dakshinkali Walked against possible cholera outbreak


KATHMANDU – Leo-Lions Club of Dakshinkali, a Proposed Club in Lions Club International organized an awareness walk on 6th July in collaboration with Dakshinkali Municipality against possible cholera outbreak.

Following the Service Week of Lions Year 2022-23, on 6th Day of Disaster Management Day, Club organized awereness campaign spreading the awareness messages through the hi-sound speakers, play cards, miking and brochure distribution.

Mayor of the Municipality Mr. Mohan Basnet addressed the rally participants and said that we need to work together to protect our community from any disaster. “We need to work together and set an example like we did during Covid-19 Pandemic. We were much successful to face that crisis. Lets join hands to combat cholera as well.”, said Mayor Basnet.

On the genuine issue, Nepal Police, teachers and students from Shikharapur Campus, Bottle House, SCLC, Arunodaya College, Tribhuwan High School, representatives from different local organizations along with Women Health Volunteers and Local government authorities participated the awareness campaign.

During a short formal program at the end, Mr. Niroj Shrestha, Campus Chief of Shikharapur Campus and Leo District President Akash Dahal gave short speech while Leo-Lions Club Dakshinkali President Mr. Sabin Shrestha gave vote of thanks to all the stakeholders and participants. Over 100 People took a part on the awareness campaign.

According to Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, Out of 62 water samples taken and tested jointly by DWSSM, EDCD, KUKL, 41 samples showed contamination with fecal E.coli
