KATHMANDU – The government has decided to form a high-level salary and facilities commission for reviewing the minimum salary, allowances, remuneration and facilities of the civil servants and the workers.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on August 22 has constituted the commission under the convenorship of former Chief Secretary Leelamani Paudyal for carrying out necessary study for revising the salary, allowance, remuneration and facilities of government employees and workers, and recommend to the government. The commission has been asked to make the study and recommendation on the basis of the country’s economic condition and its spending capacity.
Addressing a news conference organised today at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to make public the decisions made by the meeting of the Council of Ministers, Communications Minister and the government spokesman Gyanendra Bahadur Karki said a decision has been made to form the High-level Salary and Facilities Commission for reviewing the salary and facilities.
The meeting has agreed, in principle, to call for tender and move forward the procurement process in special circumstances for the construction works of the 5.5 kilometres Mudkhu-Tinpiple section of the Balaju-Trishuli road.
584 officer level positions approved
The meeting of the Council of Ministers has approved temporary positions for 584 officer level employees in the Ministry of Urban Development and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development. The positions include 380 for the Ministry of Urban Development and 204 for the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development.
According to the government spokesman, a decision has been made to add this number of the Gazetted Class employees for the fiscal year 2022/23 for operation of the development projects and programmes under the two ministries.
The Council of Ministers has likewise decided to give approval for mobilization of 140 personnel of the Armed Police Force, Nepal for the ‘formed police unit’ in the United Nations Multi-dimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali, at the request of the United Nations.
The meeting annulled the decision taken by the Cabinet on April 26, 2021 of not allowing foreign nationals to go third countries via Nepal except those having transit at TIA. The Cabinet decided to give permission to Minister for Forests and Environment, Pradeep Yadav, and Secretary Dr Pem Narayan Kandel, to participate in a programme ‘2nd International Tiger Forum’ going to be organised in Vladivostok, Russia from September 5-8.
Similarly, the government took decision to give permission to Secretary Ram Prasad Thapaliya to participate in ‘The exposure programme and knowledge sharing related to the Airborne Lidar Project’ to be organised in the UK, from September 7-9.
Likewise, the government approved second national action plan on the implementation of UN, Security Council Preamble no 1325 and 1820 regarding women, peace and security. The Criminal Offence (to remit the prison sentence) second amendment Regulation, 2078 was also approved by the cabinet.
The Cabinet meeting decided to approve Electronic Good Governance Commission (formation and operation) Order-2079. It also endorsed the Guideline for Prompt Resolution of Problems 2079, the ‘Economic Procedure-2079 of Nepali Missions abroad as well as National Medical Education (second amendment) Regulations-2079 .
The government also decided to promote Gazetted first class Joint-Secretary Narayan Prasad Sharma Dawadi to the Gazetted special class and install him on the post of the Chief Secretary of Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers, Sudurpaschim Province, informed Communications Minister Karki.
