The fire spread from a thatch-roof house of local Mahendra Sahani engulfed seven other houses in vicinity. The property worth Rs 5.4 million was lost in the fire, according to Rajiv Bahadur Chhetri, chair of ward no 17. “As it was a huge blaze, we could not douse on time. Not only houses, but also cowsheds are burnt to ashes,” he informed. Nothing inside the houses could be saved, according to him. Kumar Bikram Thapa, DSP at District Police Office, Parsa, informed that it took two hours for two fire engines to extinguish the blaze. Ward chair Chhetri said the local level would take initiatives to provide relief to the needy ones.
