KATHMANDU- Vijay M Chauthaiwale, in charge of foreign affairs department of the Indian main ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has met Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
According to Prime Minister Oli’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Rajan Bhattarai, BJP leader Chauthaiwale today paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Oli during his visit to Nepal.
During the courtesy call, he discussed strengthening the bilateral ties between the two countries.
BJP’s Foreign Affairs Department Head Chauthaiwale has come to Kathmandu on the invitation of Nepal Communisty Party’s General Secretary and Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Paudel.
Chauthaiwale joins a list of recent high-level visits from India at a time when relations between two countries have worsened over border disputes. The arrival of BJP’s foreign affairs cell has been interpreted as a meaningful visit.
Indian external intelligence agency RAW Chief’s Samant Kumar Goel, Indian Army Chief Manoj Mukund Naravane and Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla had visited Nepal in last two months.
