PM Oli used extra constitutional authority do dissolve the House: Senior Advocate Shambhu Thapa

Hearing on House dissolution case continues in the Constitutional Bench

KATHMANDU: The Constitutional Bench is continuing its hearing on the House dissolution case.

Senior Advocate Shambhu Thapa is pleading today on behalf of the petitioners.

During the hearing, Senior Advocate Thapa, who is also a former chairman of Nepal Bar Association, argued that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has dissolved the House by going against the constitution.

The Prime Minister used the extra constitutional authority while dissolving the House, he said.

“The Prime Minister took revenge on the House of Representatives. He used the extra constitutional authority. He should show us where  that authority is,” he said.

He also said that the House cannot be dissolved except on the condition that it cannot elect the Prime Minister.

“There is not any vote of no-confidence motion registered against him, “ he said, adding that the Prime Minister does not have any prerogative to dissolve the House.
