Cab set on fire in Gongabu as agitating NCP enforces Nepal Banda

Police launch manhunt to nab those involved in arson

KATHMANDU – A cab has been set on fire in Gongabu. According to SSP Ashok Singh of Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu, two unidentified people torched the cab with number plate Province 3-01002 Ja-5881 in the early morning in Gongabu.

SSP Singh said that two unidentified people ran away immediately after torching the cab that was parked on the street of Gongabu. He said that they have launched the manhunt for those involved in the arson.

Police believe that protesters enforcing Nepal Banda (General Strike) could have set the taxi on fire. The taxi has been completely charred in the arson attack.

Nepa Communist Party (NCP) led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Madhav Kumar Nepal has called Nepal Banda today to protest the government’s decision to make ‘unconstitutional’ appointments in various constitutional bodies.

Thousands of cadres have been staging demonstrations in the streets of Kathmandu Valley to enforce Nepal Banda.

The shutdown has affected normal life as vehicular movements come to a halt, markets get closed and businesses and offices are shuttered.
