The Ministry of Health and Population has said that the vaccines manufactured by Sinopharm will be administered to the people of targeted groups that mostly include frontline workers who were left out in the previous vaccination phase.
The government is giving Covid-19 shots from Kavre, Sindhupalchowk, Nuwakot, Rasuwa in addition to 15 immunization centers in Kathmandu Valley.
Under the second phase of the nationwide inoculation campaign, professors, students studying in China or planning to go to China, traders doing trans Himalaya business, people working in essential services along with hotel, trekking, advertisement, medicines, vegetables and fruits and internet will get the Chinese vaccine in the second phase.
The second phase inoculation campaign was halted on March 15 due to shortage of the jabs.
Though Nepal was administering Covishield vaccines produced by Serum Institute of India, the inoculation campaign was halted after the Indian producer delayed the delivery of vaccines that it had agreed to supply to Nepal.
Out of two million doses ordered by the Government of Nepal, the Serum Institute of India has delivered only one million doses.
The government resumed the second phase vaccination after China last delivered 800,000 doses of vaccines as gifts to Nepal.
