KATHMANDU – A Central Committee meeting of the CPN (UML) kicked off today as part of the preparations for the upcoming 10th National General Convention.
Criteria for General Convention representatives and the event schedule, the endorsement of the decisions of Thursday’s Standing Committee meeting, reporting about the local level conventions and its review are the agenda scheduled for the meeting underway at the Chyasal-based Tulsilal Memorial Building, Lalitpur, said party Central Office secretary Sher Bahadur Tamang.
Earlier, the Standing Committee meeting had decided to select 1,536 representatives among from 721,000 party members across the country on the basis of certain criteria.
There will be 262 ex-officio representatives from the party’s Central Committee, Central Commission and the Advisor Council for the General Convention scheduled to be held in Chitwan next month (November 10-12). Likewise, 1,196 will be chosen on the basis of geography, 20 from overseas and five each from party affiliated organisations.
