All the political parties should elect an impeccable person to the high post adopting prudence, farsightedness and respecting the spirit of the constitution,” he said, addressing a press conference organised by the Socialist Press Organisation, Kailali in Dhangadi today. Leader Khanal urged all the political parties to move ahead in a coordinated manner on this issue. He said the CPN (Unified Socialist) would also give candidate for the President if necessary on the basis of agreement among the political parties. The former Prime Minister insisted that a person with a political background should occupy the post of President, saying electing a apolitical person on the high-post will land democracy itself in trouble. He also ruled out the possibility of a formation of a new alliance in place of the current CPN (UML)-led ruling coalition.
