The cabinet meeting held on Thursday decided to forward names of over 450 persons to President Bidya Devi Bhandari to felicitate them on the Constitution Day. The Constitution Day is celebrated every year on September 19 since 2015 to commemorate the promulgation of the new constitution by the elected Constituent Assembly. Upon the recommendation of the cabinet, the President awards various dignitaries on Constitution Day in recognition of their outstanding contribution in various sectors. However, the government has not disclosed the names of those who will be felicitated with the government’s medals, honors and decorations on Constitution Day. While other gatherings and celebrations have been prohibited due to the outbreak of coronavirus, the government decided to commemorate Constitution Day.
