Disgruntled faction leading no-confidence motion against Karnali’s Chief Minister meets NCP chairman Prachanda

Party chairman Prachanda assures holding meeting to bring disgruntled together and resolve disputes

KATHMANDU :  The disgruntled faction of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) in Karnali province met the party’s co-chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. During the meeting with Chairman Prachanda, the disgruntled faction shared the intra party disputes and other problems in the province.

The meeting of the disgruntled faction led by Yam Lal Kadel and Gulab Jung Shah, who was recently sacked from the post of Chief Whip, follows a recent attempt that they had made to register a no-confidence motion against Karnali’s Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi. Kadel and Shah had led the process to register the no-confidence motion against Shahi that he later foiled by bringing another faction close to senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal.

During the meeting with party Chairman Prachanda, they accused Chief Minister Shahi of taking decisions unilaterally and failing to become popular among the public, according to a party source. The source said that NCP chairman Prachanda told them to move ahead by settling minor differences within the party.

He also assured the disgruntled faction that he would resolve the intra-party disputes in the province after meeting party co-chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, the source added. He also told the faction that a joint meeting bringing both sides will be held soon, according to the source.

A meeting of the party co-chairs had recently decided to summon both factions of the province to Kathmandu as part of efforts to resolve the disputes. After coming to Kathmandu, both factions have separately met chairman Prachanda while they have not been able to meet another chairman Oli.
