KATHMANDU – The merger process of the Bibeksheel Nepali and Sajha Party has reached a final stage. While both parties have agreed on almost all unification related issues, they are yet to formally finalize the leadership issue.
According to Samikchya Baskota of Bibeksheel Nepali, the party formed after the merger between Bibeksheel Nepali and Sajha Party will have Rabindra Mishra as Chairperson and Milan Pandey as Executive Chairperson. “Milan Pandey will remain as the chairman with executive role in the party formed after the merger between Bibeksheel Nepali and Sajha Party,” said Baskota.
According to Baskota, the merger between the two parties has already been approved in principle. “Though there was a proposal to have two chairmen in the party, we could not agree on that. Such an arrangement would not give a positive message to the general public as well as the party rank and file,” a leader of Sajha Party told Kathmandu Pati. “We have proposed to have Rabindra Mishra as the Chairman and Milan Pandey as the coordinator. They are positive on this,” he added.
The merger committee has already presented its joint report to Sajha Party’s Coordinator Mishra and Bibeksheel Nepali’s President Pandey. Earlier in mid-July, the two parties had begun dialogues for a merger.
