KATHMANDU – Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun has expressed greetings on the occasion of the Lhosar festival today.
Giving a message of best wishes, Vice-President Pun reminded that it is the common duty of all Nepalis to protect and adhere to the constitution achieved after long struggle. Institutionalization of republic, federalism, secularism and social justice are equally important, he added.
He wished the Sonam Lhosar 2857 celebrated by the Tamang community and Gyalbo Lhosar 2148 observed by the indigenous people from mountainous region brought happiness to all people and prosperity to the country. The Vice-President wished peace prosperity and happiness to all Nepali sisters and brothers living in the country and abroad on this occasion.
Nepal is a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-religious, multi-cultural and geographically diverse country, he reminded, adding that the festivals reflecting diverse culture and identity are matter of pride. He hoped the festival helps foster social harmony and strengthen national unity.
Meanwhile, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has also said the festival helps foster mutual tolerance, fraternity and socio-cultural solidarity.
It is our common responsibility to protect and promote the original festivals, he said while extending best wishes on the occasion of Sonam Lhosar 2857 and Gyalbo Lhosar 2148.
