KATHMANDU – Nepali Congress (NC) has called a meeting of its existing and former office-bearers to dwell on the party’s 14th general convention and other contemporary political affairs.
NC office chief-secretary Krishna Poudel shared that the meeting is taking place at 2.00 pm today at Budhanilakantha-based residence of NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba.
The meeting will discuss to finalize details of active membership of some districts and electoral constituencies since the party has set a calendar to conduct general convention of various levels under the 14th general convention from coming July.
NC has set its village/town ward convention on July 4, village/town convention on July 6, province assembly constituency convention on July 9 and convention for House of Representatives (HoR) constituency and district having only constituency on July 11 as part of its 14th general convention.
Likewise, the party has scheduled its convention in the districts having more than one HoR electoral constituency for July 14. Accordingly, the province convention is set to be held on July 21 and the central general convention to be held on August 23-26 in Kathmandu.
Meanwhile, the party has directed its Bagmati Province Assembly member Narottam Baidya to make self-criticism of the controversial expression he made in the province assembly.
The party has cautioned him through the leadership of the province parliamentary party to adopt tolerance in making such expressions.
