NCP chairmen’s meeting cancelled due to Oli’s busy schedule

Kathmandu : The meeting between Nepal Communist Party (NCP)’s two chairmen has halted due to a scheduling conflict of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. The meeting scheduled between chairman duo KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ for Monday was cancelled at the last minute.

The agenda of the meeting was to discuss the report submitted by the task force led by NCP General Secretary Bishnu Paudel to resolve intra-party disputes.

Surya Thapa, the Prime Minister’s Press Advisor, stated that the meeting was cancelled due to Prime Minister Oli’s schedule. As such, another meeting will be scheduled after both chairmen study the report submitted by the task force, according to a party source.

Earlier on Saturday, the six-member task force led by Paudel had submitted its report to the party chairmen. The task-force had been formed on August 14 to recommend the party’s chairmen solutions to address intra-party disputes.

The standing committee meeting of the main ruling party NCP that was halted in July has not resumed yet amid escalating conflict between the two chairmen. To address the intra-party conflict, the two chairmen had agreed to postpone the standing committee meeting and formed the task force.

The task force has recommended the two chairmen to agree on a solution that will allow Oli to continue as the Prime Minister for the five-year term and Prachanda to work as Executive Chairman with full authority.
