KATHMANDU – Digital Nepal Conclave 2023, the largest digital conference of Nepal is launched by ICT Foundation Nepal in collaboration with Huawei at The Soaltee, Kathmandu today. Huawei Mobile Nepal Congress has also been organized parallelly at the same place.
The Prime Minister, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ inaugurated the event as the chief guest where Communications and Information Technology Minister, Rekha Sharma was present as the special guest. Krishna Bahadur Raut, Secretary of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology; Ganesh Shah, former Minister; Purushottam Khanal, Nepal Telecommunication Authority Chairman; other senior officials of the Government of Nepal; representatives of different organizations; national and international speakers; personalities working in the field of information technology were also present.
After the inauguration, the Prime Minister visited Huawei Nepal Congress 2023 where he witnessed the advance solutions like 5G, AI, green Data Center, Huawei Cloud etc. along with other new technologies and Huawei’s effort for building Digital Nepal.
Giving a welcome speech for the event, Razan Lamsal, President of ICT Foundation Nepal and Chairman of the program said, “The 2-day conclave is being organized as an effort to measure digital capabilities for digital transformation.”
Addressing at the same event, Chief Guest Mr. Dahal said, “It is important to emphasize on infrastructure to develop digital capacity. Stating that the government has emphasized on reducing the digital divide and digital economy, the Prime Minister said that necessary policies for the development of information technology would be implemented soon.
He thanked the ICT Foundation of Nepal and Huawei for the arrangement that focuses to create better understanding about ICT development among the industry players, stakeholders in Nepal.
Speaking at a special session titled Fireside Power Samvad during the inauguration ceremony, Information and Communication Minister Rekha Sharma shared that with the development of information technology in Nepal recently, there has also been a change in thinking. ICT is not only for entertainment but also for production industry and digital economy now.

In the 2-day conclave, there are more than 70 resource persons including ICT experts from different countries, and 15 sessions will be conducted on 6 different topics. Subject matter experts from South Korea, Singapore, India, Bangladesh are present in the conclave. Experts will be releasing their working papers as well.
On the first day of the event, Lee Yun Seng, Senior Industry Solutions Expert of Huawei Asia Pacific region presented a Keynote on Enabling Digital Transformation of Public Services. And Dilip Agarwal, President of World Link presented a paper on Digital Capabilities.
The conclave being held under the slogan of ‘Fostering Digitally Sakshyam Nepal’ will emphasize Nepal’s capability for digital transformation and the necessary policies and implementation for it.
