Trinidad- Nepali Cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane took one wicket for his team Jamaica Tallawahs against Barbados Tridents on Sunday, although the team ultimately lost the match by seven wickets. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Tallawahs made a score of 161 with the help of magnificent half-centuries from Jermaine Blackwood (74) and Andre Russel (54).
Lamichhane came into the attack in the ninth over of the second inning. Tridents’ batsmen played Lamichhane comfortably and ran ones and twos, accumulating nine runs from the over.
In his second over, Lamichhane beat Jason Holder, current Test captain of West Indies, for two successive deliveries. Tridents’ batsmen struggled to pick up Lamcihhane and managed to score only three runs.
In his third over, Lamichhane took the big wicket of Jason Holder, who was playing at 69 after hitting nine fours and three sixes. Lamichhane’s googly hit the leg-pad of Holder, and Holder was given out. Lamichhane conceded only five runs in the over.
In his final over, Lamichhane’s first ball went for six by Santner, but Lamichhane made a good comeback by giving only four runs in the next five deliveries.
Lamichhane finished his four overs with one wicket conceding only 26 runs. He continued his purple patch of picking up wickets with economical bowling.
After losing five out of nine matches, Tallawahs are at the fourth position in the league table with merely seven points.
Tridents are in the fifth position after losing seven out of ten games.
Jason Holder was adjudged Man of the Match for his match-winning 69.
“Good way to finish,” Holder said after the win. “Been a disappointing campaign, but it was important nevertheless to finish with a win.”
