The petition was made to revoke President Bidhya Devi Bhandari’s decision to nominate Bamdev Gutam to the national assembly. Senior Advocate Dinesh Tripathi said that the appointment of Vice Chairman Gautam would cause serious damage to the constitutional system. Similarly, he also demanded that Gautam should not be included in the cabinet of ministers. He has demanded that Gutam should not be allowed to work as a member of the National Assembly until there is a settlement with the writ petition. Tripathi stated that the case hearing will be held on September 23. Gautam had taken his oath of office and secrecy on September 17. President Bidhya Devi Bhandari had nominated Gautam as a member of the upper house on the recommendation of the government in accordance with Article 86, Clause 2 of the Constitution. A regular meeting of the council of ministers held on September 14 had recommended the appointment of Gautam to a post in the national assembly that had to be appointed by the President.
