India, China and Asian nations extend greetings to RSP on convention


Kathmandu– Nepal’s Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has received a wave of congratulatory messages from India, China, and several Asian countries as it holds its first national convention, underscoring the party’s expanding regional political outreach.

The messages shared during the convention by Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal highlight growing engagement between the RSP and international political establishments at a time when the party is consolidating its organisational structure and political identity.

Khanal, who has recently undertaken visits to both India and China, conveyed the greetings from foreign political parties and leaders during the convention proceedings, signalling what party leaders describe as deepening party-to-party diplomacy alongside Nepal’s traditional state-level engagements.

Among the countries extending greetings are India and China along with Bhutan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Malaysia, reflecting a broad spectrum of regional political outreach.

The International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) also congratulated the RSP on its first convention and fourth anniversary, noting its recent electoral success and growing presence in Nepal’s political landscape.

ICAPP described the RSP as a “young and dynamic political force” and said its participation in the ICAPP Standing Committee marks a new chapter in regional political engagement. It expressed readiness to strengthen cooperation and deepen dialogue on democratic resilience and inclusive governance across Asia.

The organisation also extended an invitation to Nepal for the 13th ICAPP General Assembly scheduled to be held in Seoul from November 4 to 7.

Separately, the Communist Party of China (CPC), through its International Department, congratulated the RSP stating that China and Nepal share a strategic partnership built on “everlasting friendship” and cooperation for development and prosperity. It said bilateral ties have entered a new stage and expressed readiness to further strengthen party-to-party exchanges and governance cooperation.

From India, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also extended greetings to the RSP, referencing recent interactions under the “Know BJP” initiative and noting what it described as growing warmth in bilateral party relations.

The convention marks a key organisational milestone for the RSP which is expected to formalise its internal structure elect a 158-member central committee and choose 19 office bearers through internal voting.

As the party consolidates its domestic position, the flurry of international messages highlights its increasing visibility in regional political networks across Asia.
