JHAPA – Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, has said the experience with the senior citizens would be important for taking the society forward.
He said so while addressing a programme to distribute warm clothes to the senior citizens jointly organized by the Birtamod-based Simrik Savings and Credit Cooperatives Limited, the Birtamod Municipality, Ward No. 8 and the Sundar Nichajhoda Community Forest Users’ Group.
“The political, social, economic experiences of the senior citizens provide us with the motivation and path to move forward,” he said.
On the occasion, the Speaker expressed his commitment to take initiation for the development of the Sahid Netra Memorial Park at Birtamod-7. According to him, Rs 20 million has been allocated for construction of solar fence to prevent elephants from entering the human settlements in the area, a wild elephant affected area.
Province Assembly member Ekraj Karki, Birtamod municipality mayor Pabitra Mahatara Prasain, Sundar Nichajhoda Community Forest Users Group president Badri Pyakurel also expressed their views. On the occasion, warm clothes and blankets were distributed to 240 senior citizens.
