The research also revealed that Facebook is the biggest carrier of misinformation among the social networking platforms. Most misinformation carriers were artificial intelligence (AI)-generated materials. Some of these videos or materials were also found to be fabricated and with distorted context. Completely fictional or artificial content was created, old footage was used to create new events, and scenes were created as if the event had happened in real.Releasing the research report, Executive Director Tilak Pathak said that even though the fact-checking of the media content was done it was more challenging because the fact-checkers did not have enough AI recognition tools, while edited videos were used. The research found that the efforts made by Election Commission, civil society, the media, political parties and candidates themselves on fact-checking were insufficient.Similarly, it has been found that some of the posts made on social media accounts were later deleted, making it difficult to verify them. Thus, after fact-checking, some of the content was removed from social media, and the Election Commission had also entered into an agreement with Meta Company for this. The research recommends establishing a rapid response mechanism before the election, creating an official and authoritative framework for social media platform accountability, and developing a process for taking necessary action against misinformation as an indicator of conflict.— Write your comments RELATED NEWS Expert members nominated in National Trust for Nature Conservation 1,592 vehicles penalized for traffic offenses, over Rs 2 million… Nepal stock market falls by double digits Nepal PMO pressuring passport officials to cancel German contract, sources… Nepal’s four provinces braced for heavy rainfall over next three… Nepal parliament holds deliberation on Finance bill Top Headlines Before the Ballots: How Oli Lost the Political Narrative1 Balen’s Silence Has Invited Curiosity, Confusion, and Concerns2 Nepal “a Buffer State”: Rethinking foreign policy in relative terms3 Jagdamba Group Chairman Shankar Agrawal Arrested4 Nepali Congress provides financial assistance for Samba’s treatment5 We will return the savings of cooperative victims within 100 days : Rabi Lamichhane6 Court Orders Release of UML Rekha Sharma7 Two Offices Under Ministry of Communication to Be Abolished8 TRENDING The Role of the Nepalese Army in Strategic Road Projects A phone call that paved the way for RAW Chief’s visit to Nepal National Poet Madhav Prasad Ghimire no more Impact of Social Media on Nepalese Society Nepal Army initiates investigation into case of financial irregularities by Lieutenant Colonel Janmat Karki Forbes-listed billionaire Binod Chaudhary tests positive for coronavirus This time’s Teej, social distancing please!
