The 900-Megawatt capacity project is under construction at Phyaksinda, Makalu rural municipality-5 in the Sankhuwasabha district. On the occasion, the Project Chief briefed PM Oli that 40 percent of the project has been completed so far. Prime Minister Oli and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had jointly inaugurated the project on May 11, 2018. Prior to this, PM Oli had also monitored the progress of the road infrastructure at Kimathanka which adjoins China. The PM was accompanied by the Federal Minister, the Chief Minister of Province no 1, lawmakers and people’s representatives as well as the Project Chief.
