KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Madhav Kumar Nepal is staging demonstrations across the country in protest to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s move to diss the House of Representatives and set dates for midterm election.
The agitating party has claimed that it is bringing over 50,000 cadres in its demonstration in Kathmandu.
The rival faction of the ruling NCP has launched nationwide protest after the government dissolved the House last week and set dates for midterm election.
NCP’s rallies started at 11 am from Teku, Kupondole, New Baneswor, Lainchaur and Naxal.
Similarly, workers are taking out rally from Ratnapark while students are planning to start their rally from Tri Chandra Campus.
All of these rallies will converge at Bhrikutimandap. Senior leaders of the NCP including Prachanda, Nepal, Jhalanath Khanal and Narayan Kaji Shrestha are scheduled to address a protest assembly in Bhrikutimandap.
Traffic in Kathmandu has been disrupted in Kathmandu. The Metropolitan Traffic Police Office recommended people to avoid the routes where the rallies are being organized and take alternative routes.
