Speaker Netranath Adhikari announced that CM Nepali obtained a majority of 31 votes against 27 in the province assembly. Earlier, CM Nepali had presented a proposal seeking vote of confidence in today’s Province Assembly meeting. A total of 58 members were present in today’s voting. The proposal seeking vote of confidence received support from the Nepali Congress (15), CPN- Maoist Center (11), two each province assembly members of Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal and Rastriya Janamorcha and an independent member Rajib Gurung. Twenty seven province assembly members of opposition CPN-UML had voted against the motion seeking vote of trust. Appointed as the Chief Minister on June 12 as per the Article 168 (5) of the Constitution of Nepal, Nepali sought the vote of confidence from the Province Assembly today as per the constitutional provision that states to seek vote of confidence within 30 days. After winning the vote of trust, the CM is said to expand the Council of Ministers with portfolio division immediately after consulting with the ruling alliance.
