KATHMANDU – In a bid to promote Nepal’s tourism, the Nepali embassy in Cairo, Egypt organised a cultural programme in an exhibition at El Sawy Cultural Wheel at Zamalek.
On the occasion, a video informing about Nepal was played and various original and cultural programmes were organised. The programme took place on Wednesday and Thursday.
Similarly, the exhibition got various stalls set up by different countries including Nepal showcasing their original and cultural materials. Around 375 foreign visitors visited the stall set up by Nepal and keenly observed the Nepali objects, said the Nepali embassy.
Materials like Nepal’s national flag, statues of Pashupati Nath, Gautam Buddha, rhino, and elephant, masks, khukuris, karuwa (a Nepali traditional vessel) and materials identifying about Buddha religion were on display. Handouts and posters promoting Nepal’s tourism were also distributed. Nepali students and communities provided their assistances for the cause.
There are around 300 Nepali students in Egypt, according to the embassy. Other participating countries were Italy, Japan, Mexico, Pakistan, Palestine, Tajikistan, Portugal, Russia, Vietnam, Yemen, Spain, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Argentina, Thailand, Czech Republic, Dominica, Ecuador and Ghana.
Ambassador of Nepal to Egypt Sushil Kumar Lamsal and government officials of Egypt visited the exhibition.
