According to assistant chief district officer in Sankhuwasabha, Mohanmani Ghimire, the helicopter met with an accident while landing at Siprung of Bhotkhola rural municipality in the district. Ghimire said, “Locals have informed about the Simrik Air’s helicopter crash. Details of the accident are waited. We have made requisition with the Ministry for Home Affairs for helicopter for rescue operation.” The helicopter was carrying the construction materials for the Upper Arun Hydro Power Project when it crashed. Tribhuvan International Airport’s Spokesperson, Teknath Sitaula, informed that the helicopter had been out of contact with the Tumlingtar Airport since morning. Further details concerning the incident are awaited.
