KMC operates mobile vans to collect swab

KATHMANDU – The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has begun collecting swabs by operating mobile vans in every neighborhood to make activities related to preventing, controlling and treatment of the coronavirus infection more effective.

The KMC began collecting swabs of symptomatic patients, people suffering from chronic disease and senior citizens at every ward as the risk of the coronavirus has increased in the Kathmandu Valley with the onset of winter.

The mobile van has been brought into operation from Monday after the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology installed a Positive Air Pressure Maintained Unit in the van.

KMC Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya said that they have begun collecting swabs using a mobile van constructed with the technical support of NAST.

KMC will carry out free PCR tests for people who are under the criteria set by the government, as well as for suspicious persons under contact tracing. The KMC has requested all to give priority to the needy and senior citizens.

Swabs were collected from ward no 13 on Monday and they will  be collected in other wards from today, according to KMC.
