UNICEF provides support to coronavirus infected children, teachers


SIMKOT – UNICEF in Nepalgunj has begun providing free health materials to coronavirus infected children, teachers and employees in Namkha rural municipality in the northern part of Humla district.

UNICEF has provided health materials to 56 coronavirus infected people, including 49 students at the Mahabouddha Secondary School and the Gumba School in Yalbang on Tuesday. The health materials were also provided to five elderly persons at Yalbang.

The materials include blankets, sanitizers, masks, gloves, thermometer and oral rehydration packets, said the rural municipality chairman Bishnu Bahadur Lama. Two hundred units of PPEs to protect workers from COVID-19, one thousand packets of Jeevanjal oral rehydration salts, six packets of toys and games materials and 60 blankets have been provided.

Similarly, the 49 infected children who are in home isolation have been provided with various toys.
UNICEF has also provided equipment and materials required for the local birthing centre at free of cost.
