The Indian government is handing over the consignment of 1 million doses of Covishield vaccines manufactured by Serum India Institute as a gift to Nepal tommorrow. Organizing a press meet at the Ministry of Health and Population in the capital on Wednesday, Health Minister Hridayesh Tripathi announced that India was donating Nepal the free Covid vaccine. Indian Ambassador to Nepal Vinay Mohan Kwatta was also present in the press meet. Speaking at the press meet, Health Minister Tripathi said that frontline responders including health workers, security personnel and garbage workers among others would receive the Covid jab in the first phase. Earlier on Friday, Nepal’s medicine regulatory authority Department of Drug Administration had decided to grant emergency use authorization of Covishield vaccine against Covid-19 in Nepal.
