Quarantines, isolation centers in Kathmandu Valley to be kept on standby position

CDOs of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts urge people to follow health safety protocols

KATHMANDU – The government has decided to keep all quarantine and isolation centers in the Kathmandu Valley standby position. A meeting of Chief District Officers of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur held today decided to instruct district health offices of the Valley to put all quarantine and isolation centers on ready position.

“Considering the risk of coronavirus outbreak, the meeting decided to keep quarantines and isolation centers on ready position and put all health units on standby mode to mobilize them when required,” read a joint statement issued after the meeting.

Earlier on Monday, the Ministry of Home Affairs had issued a circular to all District Administration Offices (DAOs) to put quarantine and isolation centers built earlier on the ready position.

Stating that there was still a risk of another coronavirus outbreak, the Home Ministry has instructed them to impose health safety protocols. CDOs of three districts of the Kathmandu Valley have held a meeting to discuss measures to combat the outbreak.

They have also urged people to avoid crowding, organize cultural feasts and other gatherings. Urging people to celebrate upcoming Holi by complying with health safety protocols, they have also warned to take action against those flouting the health safety measures.
