Second wave of COVID-19: 8,663 people recover as 6,653 new COVID-19 cases reported


KATHMANDU – As many as 8,663 people have recovered from COVID-19 in last 24 hours. With this, total number of people recovered from COVID-19 has reached 476,130 in the country. The recovery rate has now climbed to 81.9 per cent.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 6,653 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the nation during the same period. With this, number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 581,560.

Meanwhile, 101 people died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 7,731 till date. The latest COVID-19 cases were detected from 20,813 tests, including 14,182 RT-PCR and 6,631 antigen held in various laboratories in the country in the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry, 3,121,120 RT-PCR tests have been done so far in the country. Meanwhile, total number of active cases stands at 97,699 with all of them receiving treatment at their home-isolation while 755 people suspected or infected with the flu-like infection are in quarantine across the country.

As informed number of active cases in Kathmandu stands at 13,967 while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have seen 5,609 and 4,048 cases, respectively.
