KATHMANDU – The country reported a total of 2,442 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, altogether 1,421 cases were confirmed through 6,677 RT-PCR tests while 1,021 others through 4,249 antigen tests. With the latest cases, the total COVID-19 caseload reached 621,056 in the country.
Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr Krishna Poudel said that 3,456 people got recovered in the past 24 hours. So far, a total of 556,798 COVID-19 infected got full recovery from the virus.
It is stated that the Kathmandu Valley recorded 548 new cases including 450 in Kathmandu, 53 in Lalitpur and 25 in Bhaktapur district.
After Kathmandu district, Baglung recorded 222 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. At present, the country has 55,532 active cases including those 444 in quarantine facilities.
Likewise, the Ministry said that 51 persons died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours taking the total death toll to 8,726.
