KATHMANDU – Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has been elected to the House of Representatives (HoR) from Rukum West. A common candidate of the ruling alliance, Sharma secured 39, 549 votes. His closest competitor Nandaram Devkota of the CPN (UML) got 12,961 votes, said Chief Election Officer Khadga Bahadur KC.
Similarly, Deepak Kumar Malla of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) bagged 796 votes, Hari Bahadur Pun of Mongol National Organisation 208 and independent candidate Tarak KC 3,567. A total 57,295 votes were cast in the HoR election in Rukum West.
Likewise, the Maoist Centre candidates have won the election to the Province Assembly (PA) Member from both the PA electoral constituencies in Rukum West. Mahendra KC has been elected to the PA from PA constituency 1 and Raj Kumar Sharma from PA constituency 2 of the district.
KC garnered 19,033 votes and his nearest contender Narayan Kumar Shah of UML got 8,081. Sharma obtained 20,160 votes and his closest competitor Karna Bahadur Ghartimagar of UML got 8,088.
