KATHMANDU – Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has received the vote of confidence by getting support from more than two thirds of total 275 lawmakers.
In the voting taken place in the House of Representatives (HoR) today, PM received support from 268 lawmakers while two lawmakers cast their votes against Prachanda’s premiership, the eldest Member of Parliament (MP) Pashupati Shumsher JBR informed the House while announcing the result.
Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, CPN (Unified Socialist), Nagarik Unmukti Party, Janamat Party and independent lawmakers gave the vote of confidence to PM Prachanda.
Five lawmakers remained absent in today’s House meeting. President Bidya Devi Bhandari had appointed CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Dahal to the post of the PM on December 25, 2022.
The CPN (Maoist Centre) is the third largest political force in the HoR with 32 seats from the recently held elections to the HoR. PM Prachanda received the vote of confidence from the parliament today as per the Article 76 (4) of the Constitution of Nepal. The PM elected as per the Article 76 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal should take the vote of confidence within a month after getting appointment from the President.
