The cabinet meeting, which had been scheduled for 5 pm, is likely to make some key appointments as well as other important decisions. A high-level source informed that the cabinet meeting will make a decision on the appointment of the Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority. The post of the chief of the state-owned electricity generator and distributor will be vacant after the current Managing Director Kul Man Ghising’s four-year tenure expires today. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Barshaman Pun ‘Ananta’ will present an agenda at the cabinet meeting on the reappointment of Ghising as the NEA’s MD. The meeting is also likely to take a decision to recommend President Bidya Devi Bhandari to nominate Nepal Communist Party’s Vice Chairman Bam Dev Gautam as a member of the National Assembly, according to the source.
