President Paudel attends main ceremony of Constitution Day


KATHMANDU – The main function committee has hosted a special ceremony at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel in Kathmandu on the occasion of the Constitution Day-2080 on Wednesday.

On the occasion, President Ramchandra Paudel attended the ceremony as a chief guest. Also present were Vice-President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav, Chief Justice Bishowambhar Shrestha, National Assembly Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka, Deputy Prime Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha, ministers, parliamentarians, constitutional bodies’ chiefs and office-bearers, diplomatic mission chiefs and representatives, government employees and journalists.

A signifying banner reading ‘Constitution Day, 2080’ and showering of flowers were displayed by the Nepal Army helicopter on the occasion. The helicopter with banner had marched around the Ring Road of Kathmandu.

Different contingents of the Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force had performed march-past with cultural performances. Colourful balloons and pigeons as peace symbol were released to mark the day.

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Lalitpur Metropolitan City and Bhaktapur Municipality had presented cultural processions. Also on the occasion, a special constitution day edition of ‘Nepal’ – a bi-monthly publication of the Department of Information and Broadcast was released. Acting Prime Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka had addressed the ceremony.
