Rival faction of NCP registers no-confidence motion against Bagmati’s Chief Minister Poudel

45 members of the provincial assembly sign no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Poudel


KATHMANDU – A vote of no-confidence motion has been filed against Bagmati province’s Chief Minister Dormani Poudel.The rival faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) close to Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal has initiated the no-confidence motion against the provincial government of Bagmati. Chief Minister Poudel is close to the NCP led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

45 members of the Provincial Assembly have registered the no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Poudel. The process to vote out the Chief Minister in Bagmati province is led by the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP)’s parliamentary party deputy leader Shalik Ram Jamarkattel.

Before registering the no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Poudel, Jamarkattel, who was also the Minister of Internal Affairs and Law, had stepped down as the minister.

Along with Jamarkattel, Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment Arun Prasad Nepal and Minister for Social Development Yubaraj Dulal had also stepped down as ministers of Bagmati province.

The no-confidence motion against the Chief Minister Poudel comes in the wake of the growing crisis in the center caused by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s decision to dissolve the House of Representatives.
