NCP led by Prachanda-Nepal faction calls nationwide general strike for Thursday to protest govt’s decision to dissolve the House

KATHMANDU – Nepal Communist Party (NCP) led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Madhav Kumar Nepal has announced Nepal Banda (general strike) for tomorrow.

The agitating NCP today announced that it will enforce nationwide Nepal Banda (general strike) on Thursday as part of its protest against the government’s decision to dissolve the House of Representatives and set dates for midterm election.

NCP leaders say that markets, transportation, industries, offices and all other businesses across the country will be shut during the general strike.

The Prachanda-Nepal faction has announced the general strike a day ahead of a mass gathering going to be organized by the rival faction led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Oli-led NCP is holding a mass gathering at Durbarmarg on Friday.

Narayan Dahal, NCP Bagmati Province’s chairman, said that the NCP has called the nationwide shutdown to protest the House dissolution.
