A dialogue committee led by Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ is holding talks with Tharu groups today. Rajan Bhattarai, Prime Minister KP Oli’s foreign affairs advisor, said that the dialogue committee will hold talks with Tharu groups at Singhadurbar at 1 pm today. Sharma along with former lawmaker Bhagwati Chaudhary are the members of the government committee. Earlier on Monday, the government had formed a three-member committee to hold talks with the agitating Tharu group and address their issues. Tharu Kalyankarini Sabha, Tharuhat-Tharuwan Joint Struggle Committee and Central Movement Mobilization Committee has been staging protests for the last few days putting forth a 19-point demand including release of Tharu leader Resham Chaudhary. Chaudhary has been serving jail term in Dillibazar prison after the Kailali District Court in March in 2019 handed down a life sentence to 11 people including him for their connection in Kailali carnage of 2015.
